Description

The FTDI USB to Serial Adapter, supplied by Eurofyre, facilitates the connection, monitoring, and control of VESDA and ICAM aspirating smoke detectors. This compact adapter converts an available USB 1.1 or 2.0 port into an RS232 serial DB9 port, leveraging an FTDI chipset. A notable feature is its COM retention, ensuring the same COM port value is automatically re-assigned if the cable is disconnected and re-connected, or if the host system is rebooted, simplifying installation and ongoing use.

The adapter offers extensive compatibility with various detector models. When used with the VESDA High Level Interface, it is compatible with detectors such as VLC-505VN, VESDA VL P, VESDA VLS, VLC-50500-MRN, and VLC-505-EX. For other models, like VLC-500RO & VLC-400, VLC-50000-MRN, VLC-500-EX, and Xtralis XCC, a DB9 Serial Lead (M/F) is required.
