Description

The Li-ion Tamer Reference Sensor, Gen 2, is a crucial component within a system designed to detect off-gas events, signalling early lithium-ion battery failure and preventing thermal runaway. This specific Gen 2 model has been discontinued, superseded by the Gen 3 version, although Eurofyre offers ongoing support for existing units, including servicing and information.

Operating as part of the Li-ion Tamer Rack Monitoring System, the reference sensor collaborates with in-rack monitoring sensors and a control panel. Its role is to survey the ambient environment, including air inlets like HVAC systems and doorways, to effectively cancel common mode signals. This ensures accurate detection by differentiating genuine off-gas incidents from general environmental fluctuations.

Sensors are strategically installed at entry/exit points to the battery space and any potential gas entry locations. Up to three can connect per controller, with blue colour-coded cables simplifying installation. Mounting options include drilling a panel hole or utilising the supplied bracket.

The sensor detects lithium-ion battery electrolyte solvent vapours with a minimum threshold of <1 ppm/sec and a 5-second response time, indicating single cell failure. Operating from -10 to +60°C, it holds various approvals, including ETL listing, EN 61326 compliance, and RoHS 3. Eurofyre, an authorised distributor, provides expert advice and support for these Li-ion Tamer systems.
