Knowledge BaseDescription
The Crisis EVC Standalone Master Station is a self-contained Emergency Voice Communication (EVC) system designed for smaller installations requiring up to eight lines. Fully compliant with BS 5839-9:2021, this reliable and cost-effective unit features an integrated Assist Call with acknowledge function, full duplex operation, and a lockable handset cover.
Housed within a powder-coated zintec enclosure with a perspex door, the system integrates a master handset, one to four dual-line cards, a power supply, and a battery charger. It can be either flush or surface mounted, offering 20mm cable knock-outs and space for a backup 12V VRSLA battery, ensuring straightforward installation. Each outstation connects via a single radial circuit, making it an effortless solution even without prior setup knowledge.
The master station is compatible with all Crisis EVC Outstations, including Type A, Type B, Type C, and jack points for specific applications. It visually identifies different call types – EVCS, assist, or connected calls – through flashing red, blue, or green RGB indicators respectively, as detailed in BS 5839-9:2021. Critically, refuge calls take precedence over emergency assist calls, and a single line can serve both an accessible toilet and a Type B refuge point.
This system effectively combines disabled refuge, fire telephones, and emergency assistance alarms into a single, robust network. This integration not only yields significant cost savings but also simplifies installation, configuration, and operation. Furthermore, the Crisis EVC system features fault-monitored, fully line-powered wiring and includes battery backup via the master station to ensure continuous functionality during power outages.
