The ECO In-Line Gas Detector, developed by Xtralis, provided early warning for toxic, oxygen, and flammable gas hazards. Designed to integrate cost-effectively with existing or new aspirating smoke detection (ASD) pipe networks like VESDA and ICAM, it created the industry’s first combined aspirated smoke and gas detection system.
Each ECO detector could house one or two pre-calibrated, field-replaceable sensors, allowing for easy expansion to monitor multiple gases across a specific point, zone, or total area. The system actively monitored for gas escapes and build-ups in diverse applications such as battery-charging rooms, boiler rooms, manufacturing facilities, and parking garages. It offered integration with building management systems (BMS), HVAC, PLCs, and fire alarm control panels (FACP) for real-time situational awareness. The ECO system aimed to provide significant installation and maintenance cost savings over conventional multi-point gas detection solutions. Features included Modbus connectivity, analogue outputs, configurable relays, and on-board data logging.
While the ECO In-Line Gas Detector product line has been discontinued and replaced by the VESDA Sensepoint XCL Gas Detector, Eurofyre, an authorised Xtralis distributor, continues to offer spare parts, servicing, and training for existing ECO detectors.
