The FyreLine Digital PVC Linear Heat Detection (LHD) Cable offers a reliable solution for fire detection, particularly in hazardous environments, by sensing excessive heat directly at the point of risk. This system boasts low installation, maintenance, and repair costs, coupled with a low material cost, making it an economical choice.

The cable is constructed with two twisted, tensioned, tri-metallic conductors, each coated in a heat-sensitive polymer. When heated to its rated temperature, this polymer melts, causing the conductors to touch, which creates a short circuit. This signal is then transmitted to the fire alarm control panel, indicating a fire or excessive heat event. Once activated, the damaged section of the cable is readily replaceable.

While the standard PVC coating is suitable for most applications, it is not recommended for environments involving direct exposure to UV light, hazardous chemicals such as hydrocarbons, or situations where regular mechanical abrasion is expected. In such cases, alternative sheathing materials are available to ensure optimal performance.

The FyreLine digital LHD cables are comprehensively approved, bearing the CE mark to signify compliance with applicable directives including CPR, EMC, and the Low Voltage Directive (LVD). They are also fully approved by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), specifically UL 521 for heat detectors in fire protective signalling systems.

Technical specifications highlight an overall insulated, twisted pair of tri-metallic cores with a 1kV tested protective outer coat, an overall diameter of 3.60mm, and a maximum zone length of 3,000m.
