The Eurofyre Smoke Pen is an innovative device engineered for a range of diagnostic applications, including leak-testing, airflow studies, and particularly for verifying aspirating smoke detection (ASD) systems. This user-friendly tool provides a continuous, non-corrosive and non-hazardous white smoke trail, making it a safe solution for various testing environments.

Operating similarly to a mechanical pencil, the Smoke Pen utilises replaceable wicks. Users insert a wick, allowing approximately 10mm to protrude, which is then lit with a match or lighter. After burning for 10-15 seconds and extinguishing the flame, the device produces a stable and consistent stream of smoke for up to 30 minutes per wick. The smoke can be easily extinguished by replacing the pen’s lid, and the device itself is reusable, supplied with six replacement wicks, with additional refill packs available.

The process for using the Smoke Pen is straightforward: remove the black cap, press the chrome button to insert the wick, adjust it to the exposed length, light it briefly, and then blow out the flame to initiate the smoke stream. Replacing the cap extinguishes the wick, ready for future use by simply adjusting the wick length.

Beyond ASD system testing, the Smoke Pen proves valuable for general smoke alarm tests, air-tightness assessments, and thorough examinations of ducting and cabinets. It is also effective for evaluating extraction arm flow, detecting subtle air movements, and conducting mandatory carbon monoxide spillage checks for boilers and case sills post-installation or refitting.
