The VESDA-E VEA 40-Relay Local StaX is an ancillary device designed to enhance the functionality of the VESDA-E VEA aspirating smoke detection system. Its primary role is to provide precise alarm location signalling directly from the detector via 40 individual relays, with each relay corresponding to a specific sampling tube. Additionally, it offers space within its IP40 enclosure for mounting fire loop input modules, and is directly powered and controlled by the main detector.

Operationally, once the VESDA-E VEA detector detects smoke, it scans to identify the exact tubes where smoke is present. The Relay StaX then activates the corresponding relays, establishing a direct 1:1 mapping between its 40 relays and the detector’s 40 tubes, thus providing comprehensive addressability for smoke events. The latching configuration of these relays automatically follows that of the detector itself.

For installation, the Relay StaX maintains the same physical dimensions as the VEA detector, allowing it to be mounted conveniently either above or below the primary unit. A provided spacer ensures accurate alignment with the detector’s mounting bracket or proper spacing for direct wall installation. The device is fully supported for commissioning and ongoing maintenance through the Xtralis VSC software package.

The product boasts full VdS approval and carries the CE mark, confirming its compliance with all applicable European Union directives, including CPR, EMC, and LVD, as well as EN54-20. Technical specifications include an operating voltage range of 18 to 30Vdc, with an average quiescent power consumption of 20mA and an alarm consumption of 250mA. It measures 352.05mm x 340.5mm x 135.5mm and weighs 5.1kg, operating efficiently within an ambient temperature range of 0°C to 39°C.
