The FyreLine Automatic Cable Reeler is an ATEX-approved device engineered for effective fire detection in hazardous environments, particularly floating roof storage tanks. These tanks often hold highly flammable products, presenting substantial fire risks primarily due to ignited vapours escaping from worn rim seals. Therefore, a fast and efficient fire detection system is crucial to mitigate significant losses, operational downtime, and danger to personnel.

Linear heat detection provides an ideal solution for such applications, leveraging its inherent flexibility. The FyreLine Automatic Cable Reeler is designed to operate seamlessly with FyreLine Digital Linear Heat Detection (LHD) cable, which is installed around the circumference of the tank’s floating roof. This integrated system specifically addresses the challenge of accommodating the roof’s vertical movement.

The reeler is installed at the top of the tank and connects to a junction box located on the floating roof via a 23-meter, 4-core connecting cable. This specialised cable is highly resistant to chemicals and high temperatures. The automatic mechanism intelligently adjusts to the roof’s movement, allowing the detection cable to uncoil as the roof descends and smoothly winding it back in as the roof rises, ensuring uninterrupted fire monitoring.

The robust reeler mechanism is encased within a durable AISI 316 stainless steel cabinet, offering excellent protection in harsh conditions. It also features a removable plate for straightforward inspection and is designed to operate reliably within an extensive temperature range of -40°C to +60°C.

This comprehensive system ensures reliable, continuous fire detection, precisely targeting the vulnerable rim seal areas where the majority of fires are prone to originate in floating roof storage tanks.
